Pray for Road Safety

Everyone in Cambodia knows someone who has had their lives affected in some way by accidents, injuries, and even deaths related to the melee that is Cambodian traffic. So many factors play a part in creating this situation: drunk driving, unrepaired roads, traffic police allowing reckless or illegal behavior because of bribes, lack of education on driving safety, etc. Please pray with us for safety on Cambodia's roads!

Pray for Local Government

Today we'd like to ask that you join us in praying long-term for the local government here, not only for national leaders like the king and prime minister, but also for the provincial government and leaders of our commune and village. They need wisdom, compassion and integrity to lead well, but most of all they need a relationship with God!

Especially pray for the deputy governor of Kandal Province, the provincial head of Ministry of Cults and Religions, and our commune chief, all of whom we have some relationship with and believe that seeds planted in conversation can someday bear good fruit!

Pray for "Boro"*

 *name changed

Please pray for a young man in our community who struggles with his identity and the way that many of his peers ridicule his quiet and gentle spirit. Boro wants to grow in his relationship with God but faces many challenges at home and in school.

Pray:

- That he would accept his God-given identity and personality without shame

- That his family would stop persecuting him for his decision to accept Christ

- That his peers would encourage him, not tear him down

- That he would walk in newfound confidence and maturity

Healing and Growth

This sweet 9 year-old girl name means "healthy", yet she has lived through attempted abortion by her mother, possible fetal alcohol syndrome, neglect, rejection, and has cerebral palsy. She has been making progress physically and socially, but we believe she will become even stronger and healthier than anyone from her village could have ever imagined! And although she is currently non-verbal we believe someday she will be able to speak the words which she sometimes tries so hard to form.

Pray:

- That she would know she is fearfully and wonderfully made, and that no matter the circumstances of her conception and birth that she is not a mistake

- That she would not live under false guilt or shame about life circumstances beyond her control

- That she would continue to develop more muscle tone, control, and dexterity

- That she would continue to gain age-appropriate weight

- That she would develop more fine motor skills

- That she would learn how to communicate her emotions in a positive way

- That she would not experience any more seizures or panic attacks

- That she would hear the voice of God and respond to him in her own way

- That those who visit her would find creative ways to keep therapy interesting and enjoyable for her

- That her caregiver would feel encouraged, that he would come to know God, and that he would be blessed with enough work to consistently provide for her

In the last five months she has surprised many by her progress, we believe there is much more to come! Thank you for your prayers.

Meak Bochea Day is Coming Up

In two days Cambodia will have one of it's many religious holidays. Meak Bochea Day is for honoring Buddha and offering numerous sacrifices at local temples. Much time and money is put into these sacrifices by families who don't have enough to take care of themselves. Pray for Cambodians' eyes to be opened to the waste and futility of these rituals, and for revelation of the FREE gift of salvation which Jesus offers to them. Also pray that new Christians would not be swayed by family pressures to take part in idolatry.

Pray for New Believers

Today is the one-week mark for 5 individuals that committed their lives to Jesus last Sunday! Pray that they would feel encouraged as this new chapter of their journey with God begins, and that as they seek him that they would experience unparalleled freedom, peace, and boldness to share the Gospel with others! And pray for God to soften the hearts of these new Christians' husbands, parents, and siblings so that they would be only the first of many more in their families who receive salvation.

A Note on Holidays, and How to Use the Prayer Room Calendar

Cambodia has many, many holidays. That may sound nice, but in reality most of them are centered around idol worship and appeasing ancestors' spirits. Holidays here are fraught with spiritual warfare, freak accidents, and family drama. For Christians, they are challenging times where believers must walk a fine line between loving and honoring family while not violating their conscience.

We've put up a prayer room calendar so that you can see at a glance what days Cambodia and especially Cambodian believers might need an extra covering of prayer. We will also add upcoming events and outreaches from time to time, because there is always a lot of spiritual warfare going on when the Enemy feels threatened by people hearing the Gospel!

To use the calendar, simply go to our Prayer Room page and hover your computer mouse over any dates that are underlined. The name of the holiday or event will appear, and if you want to learn more you can click to read additional info.  You can even add the dates to your smartphone or Google calendar!
