Prayer Request

Please pray with us for a young man with autism who often spends time at our Center. Our staff are kind and encouraging to him, but due to his limitations he often doesn't understand or know how to respond to the people around him.

Pray:

 - That God's love would somehow reach his heart

- That he would have relief from seizures and epileptic symptoms

- That God would encourage his family and draw them to Him

Chinese New Year

Over the next few weeks Cambodians will be celebrating Chinese New Year with street processions, idol worship, gruesome rituals, and drunkeness. This brings an atmosphere of chaos and carelessness that results in many traffic accidents and other issues.

Please pray with us for peace and safety for our staff, their families, our community, and Cambodia as a whole.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day here in Cambodia, and sadly what should be a benign celebration of love is interpreted as a day where rape and immorality are considered normal (you can read more about Valentine's Day rape culture at

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/02/12/the-country-where-valentines-day-is-the-most-dangerous-day-of-the-year/).

Please pray with us that young people in Cambodia would not use this holiday as an opportunity for abuse or sin, but rather that God would reveal His love and His design for loving relationships.

Pray for Local Pastor's Family

A local pastor's family would appreciate prayer for their adult daughter who is now in the final stages of cancer and as of yesterday is comatose. The daughter, who is a Christian, shared at a recent Christmas celebration that her prayer is that God will use her situation to somehow glorify Him. We echo this prayer as well as ask God to give her and her family peace and strength during this difficult time.

Pray for Children's Health

As anyone from a big family or tight-knit community knows, kids that play together often share not only toys but sicknesses! Recently, many of the little ones in Sak Saum nurseries have been coming down with fevers and colds, despite their mothers' and caregivers' best efforts.

Please join us in praying that:

- Each child who is under the weather gets well soon

- Those who are healthy, stay healthy

- The young mothers who can become overwhelmed or fearful would feel peace and grow in wisdom about how to handle their children's health concerns

Pray for Persecuted Youth

Several teenagers from our church shared with us this week that their teachers in public school have been trying to discourage them from their Christian faith, treating them differently than other students and informally "quizzing" them about Buddhism in a hostile way.

Additionally, some of these same students face taunting and negativity from family members and neighbors when at home, leading them to feel that our Center is the only place that welcomes them.

Please join us in praying:

- That God would encourage them and be the lifter of their heads as they remain faithful to Him

- That they would show grace and kindness to their persecutors, overcoming evil with good

- That our staff would have wisdom as we counsel these young believers

- That those who feel a need to mock or discourage Christians in our community would receive revelation of God's love for them, and that they like Saul/Paul would be transformed into whole-hearted followers of Christ

Pray for Pich and Sopheak

This morning's church service was a time of sharing testimonies, a beautiful opportunity for the congregation to encourage one another and hear what God is doing in individual's lives. Afterwards, we had an altar call and two people responded: Pich, a young teenage boy who has been spending every spare moment he can at our Center, and Sopheak, a man who recently entered Sak Saum's Brother House program. What a great way to end a wonderful service!

Pray with us that Pich and Sopheak are blessed as they seek God, and that their newfound salvations would influence their families and community to draw even more to Him!

Pray for a Staff Member's Family

This morning the grandfather of Aly (staff member) and Channtuon (Sak Saumer/wife of Sok, who recently died of luekemia) passed away after months of health struggles following a stroke.

Please keep this family in your prayers as they grieve yet another loss, that they would be comforted and strengthened. Also pray that God would use these difficult times to draw the remaining members of the family who are not yet Christians to Him.

Pray for Chaim

Early this morning the elderly mother of Chaim (staff member and Loaves and Fish foster mom) passed away after weeks of convalescence.

Please join us in praying for Chaim, her siblings, and other relatives as they grieve the loss of her mother:

 - For God to comfort all who mourn

 - For the (Buddhist-style) funeral that will take place to bring as little stress and negativity as possible

- For supernatural provision, peace and strength as the family adjusts to this sad loss of a loved one

Meak Bochea Day is Coming Up

In two days Cambodia will have one of it's many religious holidays. Meak Bochea Day is for honoring Buddha and offering numerous sacrifices at local temples. Much time and money is put into these sacrifices by families who don't have enough to take care of themselves. Pray for Cambodians' eyes to be opened to the waste and futility of these rituals, and for revelation of the FREE gift of salvation which Jesus offers to them. Also pray that new Christians would not be swayed by family pressures to take part in idolatry.
