Yes it is close to Christmas and that means winter like weather for many. Although here in Cambodia we don't experience the bitter cold as many nations do, we still have a climate change that is very different from our very hot weather. The days become windy and a cool breeze is present in the evening also which can seem cold to many elderly Cambodians. So we do our best to help the the elderly have blankets and socks and hats to wear to bed. Most Cambodian home are situated above standing or moving water which means a extra chill coming off the water which is nice in the day but cold at night. The winter season is when many people catch colds and flu like systems which can last long periods of time if not treated which many are not. So the healing time can take much longer and the elderly are more prone to not getting the basic attention that is needed anyway on a day to day basis.
All to say we went out today to visit some of our elderly in the community and handout some blankets and socks and hats so they can be warm at night. We love to visit our community each week and sometimes twice a week if we see things that need attention or oversight. We are blessed to be in a position to help others this winter season. Thank you for your donations, because you care and are in partnership with us, we can help meet the real needs in our community.
