Foundation Center
Started in response to the growing Loaves and Fish program, the Foundation Center has become a place bustling with children, teens and adults. Our desire is that the center becomes an increasingly vibrant source of life and hope for the entire community.
What Happens at the Foundation Center?
Monday through Friday, English classes are taught by our Cambodian staff in the afternoon. These are open to anyone in the community.
On Saturdays, our staff facilitates a children's program with games, activities and lessons. They also hold a service called Youth Aflame geared towards teenagers. Then several times a month, a member of our staff offers a health seminar, dialoguing and educating the community on relevant issues like clean water, bathing properly, oral hygiene, and common illnesses and their treatments.
The ultimate goal? Certainly we want to strengthen people's minds and bodies. Even more so, we hope and pray that these opportunities open the doors of people's hearts so that we can share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Highlights:
This past November we held a kite festival. Over 150 children from the community came to the center and spent an afternoon flying kites. It was an incredible sight! Click here to view some video footage from that day.
Every year, the Foundation Center hosts a Christmas presentation. This last year, the celebration drew 1,500 people who heard the truth about Jesus and how the Savior of the world came to earth as a little baby.
The Foundation Center hosts, to our knowledge, one of the first ever playgrounds in the Saang region. Typically children have nowhere safe to play the games that many of us took for granted as kids. It is a treat to see children enjoying the equipment.
