Equipping a Future Generation

In His Steps equips children. Not only do they guide them spiritually and help meet their physical needs, they also provide an avenue that equips them for a successful future. At Father's House, that's exactly what's happening. Thanks to many generous donors, we were able to install several computers for the purpose of teaching technology skills to the children living there. Prior to life at Father's House, these kids really didn't have the means to access a computer. It's incredible to think about the possibilities that come with putting a computer in a young person's hand. A computer is just a tool, but a powerful one that begins to build their tool chest with valuable pieces for a bright future. Education, paired with proper nurturing, spiritual guidance and most importantly love, will give these children an excellent chance at being successful mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, businessmen and women, and whatever else their future holds. 

Over the past several months, we've started with the basics such as: basic hardware terminology (what is a keyboard, mouse, USB, etc.), how to navigate Windows XP, and how to use a mouse. A strong foundation with these beginning ideas will help build their knowledge in the future. Last week, we had a test. Some were a bit nervous, but everyone did impressively well. The test included written, oral and hands-on sections. The scores were all A's! Next week, we will begin moving into word processing and typing in Microsoft Word in English. Please pray for the children at Father's House. Their English is limited, so this will be a big step up for them, but they are ready for the challenge.
